Meet Terrie
I’m Terrie Bulger, owner of 180 Fitness Personal Training Studio in Dracut, MA and co-owner of 180 Boot Camps. I LOVE what I do for a living…helping people transform their bodies, health and lives. Fitness, health and wellness have been my passion for many years. I have always been pretty active… I played basketball, football, climbed trees in my neighborhood when I was a kid (if you’re thinking tomboy, your right!). High school led me to cheerleading. I did a lot of jogging in my 20’s and step aerobics in my 30’s.
In 1991, I became an AFAA Certified Aerobic Instructor and in 1992, an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer. For many years, I trained clients in their homes. Some had full gyms, while others had only a small space and we were contained to a corner of a room. I became very adept at being creative while training in homes.
I also managed a small women’s gym where I taught Floor Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Body Sculpting and Cardio Kickboxing, as well as, being the only Personal Trainer on Staff. During that period of time, I accomplished one of my proudest achievements…I earned my Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 42.
Having a son in grammar in the late 90’s, I became very aware of the problem of childhood obesity. In parochial schools, there is very little physical education, so I started an after school program called FIT FOR KIDS. Grades 1-5 program included relay races, obstacle courses, hula hoops and many fun activities. Grades 6-8 and High School kids were taught Cardio Kickboxing. The kids loved it and I enjoyed every minute of their high energy and enthusiasm.
My 180 Fitness Studio opened in June of 2006. I have since trained clients from age 11 to 70+. I treat each client as an individual and train them accordingly. If you have ever watched the Biggest Loser, I am a great blend of Jillian and Bob. Or as one client told me, “You are a cross between Mary Tyler Moore and a Nazi.” I took this as a compliment, of course, because I care enough about my clients to push them beyond what they think they can do and I am unwilling to buy their stories and excuses.
I believe working out needs to be:
Fun………..…so WE laugh a lot.
Challenging…so YOU sweat a lot.
Safe………… so I am particular to form all the time.
With the change in the economy, I decided to start group exercise classes in May 2011, hence the birth of 180 Boot Camps in Dracut, MA. It has been a lot of fun and my campers are losing weight, getting fit and having fun. With the help of my partner, Dr. Rob Laperchia, we are expanding 180 Boot Camps into more communities.
So, if you are ready to change your body, health and life and are looking for trainers who are high-energy, fun, caring, and results-oriented, then find out more about our programs or join us in our 180 Boot Camps.
I am excited to help you empower yourself to be the most healthy, fit YOU that you can be!
To your health,
Terrie
